Fusion Frozen Section Suite

Overview

The Techcyte Fusion Frozen Section solution is designed to integrate with Grundium and Pramana scanners to quickly digitize frozen section slides that are then analyzed by pathologists and the results communicated back to surgeons in the OR.

Pathologists can use the Techcyte ultrafast slide viewer and communication and reporting tools to offer clear, concise results to surgeons in the OR. Frozen section results can later be compared to the permanent slides to identify any discrepancies.

The Techcyte Frozen Section solution is for research use only and not for diagnostic use in the US.

Challenge & solution

Traditionally, pathologists have to be physically near the operating room to be able to promptly review frozen section slides. This proximity requirement limits flexibility in resource allocation and collaboration with other specialists.

Techcyte’s Frozen Section Suite is designed to give pathologists more flexibility through remote viewing and easy access to subspecialty consultations. It also facilitates quick and accurate pathology information to the OR in real-time.

How It Works

4-step process:

Create slides

Frozen section samples are collected in the operating room and transported to the frozen section lab. Samples are grossed and processed in the lab to create slides.

Scan slides

The frozen section slides are scanned using a Grundium or Pramana scanner, where they are automatically uploaded to the Techcyte platform.

Pathologist review

A pathologist is notified of a new case and can review the slides, assessing and reporting on margins and other critical pathology information.

Real-time OR updates

Using a dedicated OR view, surgeons can track pathologists’ progress in real-time and digitally receive frozen section reports.
